Week 6
Mt Hebron @ Wilde Lake- Hebron won their 1st game and Wide Lake let a big win slip away from their fingers. Congrats to Hebron for winning their rivalry game against Centennial last week. Winning is always a great feeling for the players and coaches, makes the next weeks practice more lively. Wilde Lake needs to get Osita Smith more involved in the game plan. He Maybe the best player in the county. 20 plus touches at least should be the goal of the Wilde Lake staff. I think thats a big reason they lost to Long Reach last week. I think, at least early until this game is a blow out, Wilde Lake will force feed Mr. Smith. Wilde Lake 42 Mt Hebron 0
Centennial @ River Hill- Last week was Centennials last chance to win a game and put up some points. They feel 42-0. Glad they are still playing, rumors were after the Hebron game the team would fold, so the fact they are sticking it out is a testament to Coach Martin and the boys. River Hill didn't have the horses to hang with Howard. Even with Dawkins out most of the game, and the offensive line being beat up, RH never really stood a chance. This is RH's homecoming and BVD is not one to hold back so I expect this to be ugly. River Hill 53 Centennial 0
Oakland Mills @ Reservoir- This is a very interesting game. Oakland Mills crushed Marriotts Ridge last week in a kind of surprising game. The Oakland Mills passing game is on point. Kai Castle is leading the county in most Passing statistics. He is making a strong case to be 1st team all county. Reservoir had their big win against RH and they have not really be able to capitalize on the momentum. I think Reservoir is who we thought they were, and average team. I would love to see Rezzi expand their offense and utilize some of the athletes on the team. I think OM keeps the mojo going Oakland Mills 28 Reservoir 14
Glenelg @ Marriotts Ridge- Glenelg is a runaway train right now. Hard to see anybody slowing them down. Assuming health Glenelg is my favorite to win the 2A state title. Marriotts Ridge has some good players, and is well coached, but they are missing that depth that every team needs. Numbers are low and its at the point of year that every team is dealing with a few nicks and pains. I fear they are wearing down, they should have put up more of a fight against OM last week. Glenelg 42 Marriotts Ridge 7
Atholton @ Hammond- In 2012 this was a great game. In 2018 it is not. Hammond is pretty low, Especially on Def. Only Centennial is yielding more points per game than Hammond. Hammond has solid athletes, they should be better. Atholton goes as Melvin Brown goes. He is the heart and soul of the team. Best Offensive and Defensive player on the team. He should have another good game today. Atholton 35 Hammond 7
Howard @ Long Reach- This is Easily the game of the week. #2 v #3. The Battle of Elkridge. Not a lot needs to be said to hype this game up. Both teams are good and both teams want to beat each other more than any other opponent on the schedule. This is a true Rivalry. Long Reach has bounced back nicely after falling to River Hill. Beating a talented Wilde Lake team is no easy task. Long Reach's offense is very balanced and Howard will have their hands full slowing them down. Howard will have to go into Long Reach and win without the best player Devin Dawkins. 10th grader Alex Rebeza has handled the load nicely, and it also makes things easier with Jerry O'Neill slinging the rock around to his quality receivers. Coach Willis has never beaten Howard since taking over the program. I think that changes tonight. Long Reach 21 Howard 20
