I think his first name was Zach, and he was very high on the Orioles system, and seemed knowledgeable, but We had the 2 grandkids in the car and they make it hard to listen at times. It was around 6PM yesterday, so it was on WBAL's pregame.

FWIW, I still think it is possible we see him this week.

There’s not the crazy call for him like there was with Adley. He’s younger so that’s reasonable. I wouldn’t be surprised (or really care, as a pitcher who might not even finish the year innings wise) if they wait for an expected super 2 date.

So I agree.  ...but you do the math and it's not working out to finish the season.  150 (imo) was the target coming into the season so I'd want to ramp him up where he's hitting 7/100 for a handful of starts in August....he's well ahead of that.  

 

Right now, he's far enough ahead if you let him go to 100 pitches soon, he'll get to 150 innings late August.

 

I'd be tempted to tell him he has 5 innings and just throw non-max fastballs.  Work on location.  Work on something.

 

They aren't trying to compete this season so it is for him what this is.  He has to understand load as part of development and you can make it up later.  All the speculation isn't helpful.  People (imo) are looking at the wrong things.

In Norfolk, after recording two outs in the top of the sixth inning on two pitches, Grayson Rodriguez has exited the game with a trainer. Had a long meeting on the mound with Buck Britton and Justin Ramsey, and his night ends early. Will update when we have word.
