Not at all surprising, since this is the second straight year that two Power 5 conferences have not made the cut. And with one of them being the Big Ten, who I'm sure wield a lot of influence among the group, it shouldn't be surprising.
Word from other sources is the expanded field would be 8 teams; 1 team from each of the Power 5 and 1 G-5 team being guaranteed bids, plus 2 at-large.
Love the idea of 8 teams instead of 6 (absolutely HATE byes in a playoff).
Hate guaranteeing anyone a spot though....just pick the best 8 teams.

Guaranteeing a spot is a disgrace.

Guaranteeing a spot is a disgrace.
Yea screw that. Totally demerits the regular season, which CFB has over every other sport. Hey Big 10, want a team in the playoffs? Don’t lose to Purdue by 30!
I’m ok with 6. But would prefer keeping it at 4 I think. Makes every game every week feel like a playoff game.

Getting the guaranteed spot for each of the Power 5 is probably the only reason they are willing to discuss it at this point though.

Why does any PAC 12 team deserve it this year?

They don't. Just saying the only reason they want to talk about it is because some of them aren't getting their piece of the pie.

Also what’s the deal with PAC 12 Network? Last I heard you need to live in California with a satellite dish and a tin foil hat facing SSE to get it

It's pretty much been an epic failure as far as the revenues. DirecTV has never carried it, and never will. AT&T just dropped it on their fiber service. The Pac-12 is screwed these days....both in terms of their football performance and the money they are making relative to the other Power 5. If it interests you, one of the local writers out here did a series on the whole mess. It's pretty absurd when you look at how little the schools get vs how much the conference HQ keeps for bullshit stuff, like high-end office rent in downtown SF and the salary + a private plane for the commissioner.
