It seems pretty clear there were the 4 best teams and the 4 deserving teams for this year's CFP; and only 3 teams belonged in both groups. Georgia did have their chance, they had to know the SECCG was a play-in game, and they blew another lead to Alabama....but I think it would have made for better games to have them in. I'm not sure what you do short of overhauling how the Power 5 conferences are aligned and the games are scheduled, and that'll never happen.

Then they need to truly take the four best teams. If ND or some crappy Pac 12 team ends up 12-0 and a better SEC team loses twice the SEC team needs to go. But I don’t see that happening.
I agree with all of this.

I just want things settled on the field, and where there is no doubt what may have happened.
Like I think there was a great argument by just looking at Georgia and Notre Dame to believe that Georgia was the superior team... but I don't think there was a great argument for excluding Notre Dame from the CFP based on what they accomplished.
I don't want discussions to come down to, "Well, I think team X is better." I want every team with a viable argument for being included into a playoff, to have a chance to prove what they are (ether way) on the field.
I think 8 is the magic number.

Clear that UCF came out to prove it was the tougher team in this Fiesta Bowl. Strategy backfired against battle-tested LSU and its warrior of a QB, Joe Burrow. After three ejections, including two LSU defensive backs, this game is far from over at 24-14. But UCF is not going to intimidate the Tigers. And the Knights are badly missing the composure of injured QB McKenzie Milton.

Texas up 28-14, under 6 minutes left in the 4th.
There are plenty of bowl games where teams don't want to be there, and don't mentally show up.... this was still the Sugar Bowl, vs. a big name opponent. Georgia's just been out played.

So, did Georgia not care this year?

So, did Georgia not care this year?
Are you asking me? I had my thoughts above.

No..I was asking a general question. Didn’t read anyone analysis.
Are you asking me? I had my thoughts above.
I figure that is what we will hear as the reason they lost.
