I didn't get to watch the Sugar Bowl, but I wouldn't be surprised if Georgia mailed it in, or just viewed the whole thing as a chance to party on Bourbon St. It happens. Just look at Alabama's record under Saban in non-CFP/BCS bowls. There aren't many examples to go by, obviously, but I do recall them getting shellacked a couple times in bigger bowl games, once even against Utah (and that was before they joined the Pac-12).
I'm sure Texas was much more motivated to show well last night, and even discounting the game score I'm sure it was evident to anyone who watched the game. When your goal is nothing less than a title and you come up short, and don't have the opportunity to even play for it, it can be a lot harder to get up for a meaningless bowl game. And if your opponent feel they have something to prove you can really get embarrassed, even against a lesser team.
