Top 10 pitchers in Eno's Stuff+ model:

1. Felix Bautista - 160.7 Stuff+, 95.9 Location+, 113.1 Pitching + (Basically the first two combined)

2. Calvin Faucher - 150.1, 98.3, 108.6

3. Paul Sewald - 149.4, 101, 115.2

4. Pete Fairbanks - 143.5, 107.3, 122.6

5. Emmanuel Clase - 142.8, 103.4, 113.3

6. DL Hall - 142.4, 95.2, 104.4

7. Jake Cousins - 139, 91.6, 110.8

8. Ryne Stanek - 138.2, 93.1, 103

9. Clay Holmes - 137.6, 95.1, 103.9

10. Matt Brash - 136.9, 95.5, 104.8

Top 5 starting pitchers:

1. Spencer Strider - 136.6, 100.9, 109.8

2. Jacob deGrom - 131.6, 109.8, 119.8

3. Hunter Greene - 131.4, 99.5, 106.5

4. Corbin Burnes - 129.8, 101.7, 107.8

5. Gerrit Cole - 126.7, 103.2, 112.1

Can't speak to a lot of guys on here, just don't know anything about them, but seeing deGrom, Greene, Cole and Burnes on there it makes some sense. All of them have at least one real killer out pitch.

How are Scherzer or Alcantara not on that list?

Scherzer - 107.5, 104.5, 106.2

It is wild to me that their stuff is that good-not-great and they are as good as they are.

Balt Sun: For Orioles’ DL Hall, a bullpen role is ‘different.’ His aggressive mindset is the same.

I'm very torn right now: I'd love to see a DL Hall home debut tonight or tomorrow, but at the same time I fear that for that to happen the game would have to be a blowout one way or the other. I don't have much faith that Hyde is going to bump Hall over Baker or Akin and let him take the 5th, 6th, or 7th of a close game quite yet.

Is Hall considered a quality (graduated) prospect? I've only seen him pitch twice. Both times he looked like he was throwing batting practice. I'm not rushing to judgement about how good he is/will be, but he didn't look MLB ready in either game I saw.

Good news! I saw a dog today.

Quality and graduated are two different questions.

Quality? Yes.

Graduated? Ehh..   80.2 innings at High A in '19, nothing in '20, 31.2 innings at AA in '21, 84.1 innings in the Minors this year.

Most important thing for him this year is that he stayed healthy.  He's pretty raw and inexperienced.

Fangraphs had him at 22nd in baseball mid season. Others were not as high on him, but that screams quality. The past two years he's struck out like 15 per 9 innings.

I think Bob said that his stuff did not look as good in MLB as it did earlier in the year. He is probably worn down as he's approaching his most innings ever and barely pitched last year. I think getting through the year healthy is a win and hopefully he looks more like his minor league self in the spring. Either way he's going to have to gain some command if he's going to be successful.

I used the term graduated since he's up with the O's. But thanks for the reply. I don't know much about him. The first game I saw him pitch, he threw a ball that directly hit the backstop. It was a real Nuke Laloosh moment. I remember thinking, "I hope the Oriole Bird isn't in the general area" :D

Left-hander DL Hall also is going to be slow-played in camp after experiencing lower right lumbar discomfort about three weeks ago.

Hall made his major league debut Aug. 13 with a start against the Rays in St. Petersburg, and he returned in September after converting into a relief role. Hall allowed one run with 11 strikeouts in his last eight appearances over 8 2/3 innings.

The lumber discomfort is “resolving, if not resolved,” Elias said, “but it’s put him a little bit behind in terms of a build-up.”

“We’re going to have him on a starter build-up, which takes a little bit longer, so he may be a little bit later getting into Grapefruit League games, as well,” Elias said.

Will start the year in Norfolk’s rotation, optioned after the game today.

Good move.  Hall may eventually wind up in the pen, but IMo it is too soon to make that move.  Let him go down and get 40-50 innings as a starter and see if he can come up and help the rotation then.

He’s up as the extra man for the doubleheader.

Six innings from Hall yesterday with 9Ks and just 1 walk.  Any predictions on when we see him back in Baltimore?

I think Irvin is likely first, if and when they need a starter, but both should be up at some point this year.  I think the Orioles need to get a rotation that is more left handed to take advantage of Mt. Baltimore.

No, but it won’t matter. Not until he’s in the bullpen. Not a guy we should be counting on for a rotation solution IMO.

I still envision Hall in the Orioles rotation.  He's still going to have some significant limitations this year, so it's just about getting work in for now.

Probably nothing more than spot starts and depth this season.  Likely SEP.  Means is coming back too so there's only so many ways to get everyone the work.

My 2024 rotation preferred projection is still something like

Woodruff

Means

GRod

Hall

make a choice for #5.
