Hays goes to Aberdeen tomorrow for rehab.

Be nice to see him have a good and healthy ending to the season.

Good to see him back.  Hopefully he can salvage a decent finish to end a very disappointing season on an upswing heading into 2019.

Under no circumstances should he be called up to the big league team in September.  Is he still AFL-eligible?

If he's not, send him to the Dominican to get him ABs

I'm not that sold on him anymore. I'd move him and Sisco in the right deal.

Well, you certainly could do that, but that would be selling pretty low.

He had a pretty spectacular 2017.  Sounds like the injury certainly affected him somewhat earlier in the year.  Let's see how he closes.  I personally think the future is still pretty bright.

I expect he'll be starting for the O's by the middle of next year.

He's not only gotta get back to hitting well, but he has to start improving his plate discipline. I've got no problem with him spending all of 2019 in the minors. I hope he plays great and gets here sooner, but no need to rush him if he isn't improving in the areas he clearly needs work.

Showing a little life. 13 for 41 in last 10 games with 2 HR's and only 6 K's. Sounds like he's healthy.

Bad news: Zero walks in those 41 AB's.

I don't think he's had a walk since we'll before his injury.

Edit: one walk since April 22nd.

Yeah, the walk rate is bad, but at lest the K rate isn't bad. So. maybe there's some hope there.

I'm willing to forgive all of this season.  Sometimes good prospects have a lost year and can bounce back.  It's a major, major red flag, but it does happen.  He'll still only be 23 next season, which even if he starts at Bowie isn't too old for that league (though it's getting very close).  Kill it in April and May, move up to Norfolk and keep it going, and he's back on the radar.  The laughable walk rate will hurt his upside if he can't learn to be more selective at the plate, but it won't necessarily prevent him from becoming an everyday player.

I am not sure how this year should be looked at for Hays.  I think he has been dinged up, since Spring training.

Looking at his numbers, he seems to be recovering.

I think we see him in September.

No way!  At least not if I was in charge.  I don't like rewarding someone who's been so bad (and not improving the minor areas he needs to improve upon), and it's also a bad idea from a service time standpoint.  Hays is one of the few guys with potential impact upside.  I'd like to reset his service clock so that he's under a year total after next season.

Yea, I agree with mackus but it wouldn't surprise if he is brought up next month, especially if he ends the year hot.
