Yeah, that would be my vision as well. Unfortunately ownership will probably extend Jones.
I wouldn't mind that, honestly. You could trade Rifelia, Stewart or Mullins (or package them) for SP. If Adam moves to RF or LF, I'd be ok with that.

I'd extend Jones and I wouldn't move him off of CF unless his defense slips or if Hays is clearly superior which I don't yet think is the case.

Rather work with Santander/Stewar/Macmi etc. circa 2019 at the other COT position than extend Jones..which I think would be a pretty bad to terrible move actually (how terrible depending on the extension length).. That said, Jones hasn't been bad at all this year..except for a lot of shitty throws. He's lining ups as a 2 rWAR guy this year (less by fWAR). He only gets worse post 2018, even at COF.

Why is he not at AAA instead of AA?

Why is he not at AAA instead of AA?
I had the same question.
The only justifiable answer I can think of is that they want him to work on reeling in his free-swinging approach in order to be more likely to carry over his minor league success to the majors. So if they are asking him to change things pretty dramatically, which I think is a change he needs to make, it makes some sense to have him work on those changes at a level we know he can produce. I would expect he'd hit just fine at AAA even with his wild approach, but it may be a bit of a struggle to both jump levels AND try to refine his style at the plate.

This organization clearly believes that AA has the better prospects/competition than AAA.

Better prospects, perhaps, not better overall competition.

That is entirely reasonable imo.

Doesn't need to become a walk machine but needs to let pitches travel deeper in the zone and taking pitches to the opposite field. He wasn't going to be successful with the approach he had imo. He should be fine.
