8 walks already. I don't mind if he struggles while he's adjusting to being more patient at the plate. Good on him for working to make the changes he was told he needs to make to be successful.

Such a disappointment so far this year. Would like to see him get going.

He's had 1 walk since the above and has continued to hit like dogshit. So I rescind any attaboys given to him for trying to improve his flaws. No idea what's actually going on since I'm just reading the statline, but sounds to me like he tried to make a change to his approach, wasn't happy with how it was going, abandoned it, and hasn't been able to produce since he went back to what's comfortable for him.

Maybe the biggest disappointment of the year.

Could be as simple as he is bummed about being sent to AA. We have seen that before.

It’s certainly a disappointment but I’m not ready to panic about it. I would just assume promote him and see how things go. See if that gives him a mental jump start.

That type of mental fragility shouldn't be rewarded or embraced. He needs to toughen up and fight through this if it's anything mental. (IF, I'm not saying it is)

But I mean, the O's have 17 wins, so I'm down for whatever at this point.

I don’t really disagree with your point.

I’m just saying that it’s not uncommon to see this type of thing happen.

Personally, I think you need to see a shitty ML team
With a crappy RF situation and you should be forcing your way up here. That’s what bothers me.

@masnSteve Jun 8

Orioles are hopeful that AAA outfielder DJ Stewart (hamstring) out since May 26, will return Monday. AA OF Austin Hays (right ankle), out since May 24, is set to return around June 16-17.

Orioles OF prospect Austin Hays (ankle) will be in a walking boot for at least two more weeks.
Hays landed on the minor league disabled list late last month after injuring his ankle in a game at Double-A Bowie. He has batted just .224/.259/.374 over 185 plate appearances this season in the Eastern League and probably won't return to live action until early-to-mid July. Still, it's likely we will see him up in the majors later this year -- especially if the O's begin selling parts. Jun 13 - 1:48 PM

From Roch's blog:

"Double-A Bowie outfielder Austin Hays will see a specialist regarding his ankle injury and there’s concern in the organization that he might require surgery."

Well at least his clock isn't ticking, and we weren't counting on him to help us get that 2nd WC down the stretch. Lost time to work on his discipline at the plate is the main thing.
