Another great catch from Hays tonight in the 9th inning.  The kid can play CF

While I hope he hits just fine how well does he have to if he makes a play like that a game!

1. Diving catch in right-center

2. Catch over the wall

3. Diving catch coming in

So if you had to rate the catch difficulty on these catches, how would you rate them?

Impossible (0%)

Remote (1-10%)

Unlikely (10-40%)

Even (40-60%)

Likely (60-90%)

Routine (90-100%)

A 3 run bomb and another great catch.  One of the very few reasons to turn on the game

A second bomb for Hays tonight.

I did not think it was possible but he is living up to the high standard Keon Broxton established.

...and a SB and an Outfield Assist.  Heck of a night.

This is kind of why I disagreed with Mackus on the whole “make him earn it” thing.

He has earned it..in the past.

Yes, he didn’t play great this year and obviously, he’s just hot right now and won’t keep it up but I do think he’s showing that he belongs up here and while he will have his struggles and the lack of walks is a concern, it’s sink or swim time for him.

Glad to see him end the year strong so that we can enter the offseason knowing that CF is his job next year.

He'll still AFL right? Seems weird given his tear up in the bigs, but more reps to work on plate discipline can never hurt.

I don't think he's doing that now?  (thought I saw something from Roch referencing that this is better than going to AFL?)

Great that he's taking advantage of the opportunity and showing strongly.

I definitely don't like when guys are rewarded for mediocre performance in the minors, but no denying that sometimes it works out just fine at least in the short term.  Santander this year is another example.  Still tons of scouting that needs to go into the promotion decision, and if your scouts think a player has got the skills even if it hasn't translated to in-season performance in AAA, then that is something very meaningful that isn't available to us as fans that can only read the stat sheet and public comments about the player which I think are typically so drowned in puffery that there is no detectable truth left in them.

Ok, I thought I read he's here because of the new rule allowing major leaguers to attend AFL.

Pretty neat that the Orioles have the greatest player in the history of Baseball playing CF for them!!

Too soon?

Trout has better career numbers (1000 OPS) than Hays has this season (991).  Far better if you adjust for season environment (176 to 156 OPS+).

Mike Trout is, again, better than even intentional hyperbole used to describe other guys. What a freaking stud.

Elias said the plan is too still send him to the AFL.

Your right, there is a new rule.

Trout never did this!
