It's also no longer a "bid" on the posted player, the team sets a release fee and anyone who negotiates with Otani has to be willing to meet it.  Obviously Otani got the max fee of $20M.

So there is no longer the option of "O's bid less than $20M posting fee" to worry about!

It's a shame we treated Kim so bad or we'd definitely get to sign this guy.

The Japanese are racist against Koreans so Buck hating Kim was actually all part of the prepwork to make sure Otani would feel welcome.

Red Sox, Mets, Twins, and A's also out...

Most are speculating San Fran or Seattle right now.

Until we consider that they're just saving money for Machado, Harper, and Donaldson.

Only because he doesn't know the city even exists, much less the team.

The seven teams that will meet Ohtani, confirmed to The Athletic from sources: #Dodgers; #Angels; #Padres; #Mariners; #SFGiants; #Rangers; #Cubs. Every other club is out.

I will be shocked if he ever gets 250 ABs in a big league season. Heck, I think he's going to end up on an NL team from the start. A NL team isn't going to play him in the field on off days. Those scouting reports make it seem like he still has work to do to become a complete pitcher. I find it hard to believe big league clubs aren't going to make that be his main, if not sole, focus.

It will be real interesting to see how the Angels use him.   I wonder if they made some promises that he would have a chance to hit and pitch.

Doing what they can to try and keep Trout.
