Oakland should tell MLB to pound sand. Because you know what the Giants hate more than the idea of the A's playing in San Jose? The idea of the A's playing in their own park, rent-paying tenant or no.

MLB's goal from the beginning has been to stall all progress on the A's that doesn't involved an extorted ballpark in the East Bay. If they go through with this, it will end up forcing more events than even the A's ever wanted.

ESPN: A's, Raiders reach lease agreements

http://espn.go.com/m...ease-agreements

The Raiders' lease was extended through the end of the 2014-15 season. The A's were signed through December 2015.

The Joint Powers Authority says the Raiders will pay $400,000 in 2014. The A's will pay $1.75 million each of the two years of the extension.

We won't be seeing the San Francisco A's this year.

So the A's were extended two years, but the Raiders only one? Interesting.

ESPNGiants willing to share AT&T Park

But there is a catch: Any offer would be contingent on the A's not choosing to relocate to San Jose. The Giants' territorial rights extend to the San Jose area, and last year baseball blocked the A's proposal to move south.

"They've got to come up with a long-term plan," Baer told the San Jose Mercury News. "Once that's arrived at, then maybe you'll take a step back and say, 'Is there something we can do to be helpful?' As a neighborly thing."

Sports IllustratedOakland A’s talking temporary venue amidst murky stadium future

“I am hopeful of expanding our lease at the Oakland Coliseum for an extended term,” A’s owner Lew Wolff wrote in a statement. “If we cannot accomplish a lease extension, I hope to have an interim place to play in the Bay Area or in the area that reaches our television and radio fans—either in an existing venue or in the erection of a temporary venue that we have asked our soccer stadium architect (360 Architecture) to explore.”

While Wolff won’t comment on the locations in play beyond his statement, local media reports the team has explored the stadium of the Giants’ Class-A team in San Jose, even though that currently seats less than 5,000, the now-vacated Candlestick Park, and other sites within the local media market. One possibility is the land neighboring the soon-to-be-completed stadium for the Wolff-owned San Jose Earthquakes of MLS, a space sizable enough to hold a temporary baseball venue.

So, they can't build a new stadium in San Jose because of the Giants. So their alternative is to build a temporary stadium in San Jose, or evict the Giants' affiliate from their park?

And my fantasy baseball dynasty team... Doh!

This is the main reason I always like to have my drafts a week into the season...

Obviously injuries can happen any time, but I guarantee you Jarrod Parker was drafted/kept by a ton of guys already this spring.

Traded for him in the second half of last season. It's a league where you keep everyone including 25 player "minors". But I agree, closer to the start of the season the better for drafts.

Makes sense.

Yea, definitely next weekend at the absolute earliest in my opinion...My "big money" league normally does it the Saturday or Sunday after the season starts, and I think that's perfect.
