Wow, there's absolutely a worse owner than the Angelos family in MLB.
Yeah, could never argue Angelos was 30th of 30.

Pro Sports Owner: We want to move to your city.
Mayor: Yeahhhh, no thanks.
That's gotta be a first.

Read more to me like she wants MLB, but she doesn't want John Fisher. And who can blame her?

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

Pretty amusing that an owner who "couldn't afford" to invest in the team or a new stadium in Oakland has no problem taking huge revenue hits from 2023-2027 (and years before 2023) just to get his subsidized stadium in 2028.
Since he's a billionaire I'm sure he'll make out in the end because people like him created the system. Sad state of American sports.

Wow, 1.5 billion for a stadium that seats 33k.
Which means there will only be about 25k empty seats per game....better than now, I guess.

Even though he's under team control through 2029, the A's would be wise to trade him. Relievers are volatile, he may very well have a great career. But he could also get figured out, and be just a good BP arm. And even if you're absolutely convinced he'll be the former, flipping him for a position player(s) adds so much more to your roster. Losing teams don't need a closer. The A's don't look so bad, because that division isn't that great.
Good news! I saw a dog today.

The A's...yes, the Oakland A's, have signed Luis Severino. He signed for 3/$67M, a pretty good bit higher than MLBTR's 3/$51M prediction, though still just a 3-year deal. He also has an opt-out after Year 2. I'm pretty floored that the Athletics are involved in spending serious money. Not sure if this tells us much about pitching market, it's still in family with most of the expectations and the early contracts we've seen, but its decidedly higher AAV than expected which could be market rising or could be A's having to blow people out of the water to attract anyone.
Severino had received and rejected a Qualifying Offer, so the A's will lose their 3rd highest pick and the Mets will get a comp pick after the 4th round.
