I was kind of hoping his name rhymed with Picard.

Buck worked that criticism in postgame.
He doesn't get a good judge off the bat. Have noticed him taking a lot of bad angles.

What did he say?

He played more CF and RF in the Minors vs. LF. Even so far this year with Jones' early injury issue, he has played 8 games in left, and 6 in center.

Agree Rickard hasn't looked good defensively. Very small sample, though. Reputation was as a good defender, so I'll assume it's just been a few bad plays. My guess is he'll end up as slightly above average in LF and below average in CF but good enough to be the fill-in guy when Adam needs a day off.

Interesting comment from Buck regarding the fact that it takes guys time to adjust to the 3rd deck in MLB stadiums. I really have no idea how legitimate that or if it's just Buck-speak. I will say that if there's one thing I trust the Orioles to develop it's defense. If Rickard has the skills, they'll get him there.

IMO it's one of those things that Buck knows that none of us know beans about... it probably delays recognition of the ball....

Come on... fully cognizant that there are many things Buck is aware of us, that we wouldn't be... but that's not one of them. Have heard that for 25 years.

Media guy asked about his instincts to score on the double by Machado. ParaphrasingWhat did he say?
Buck: Yeah, there's still things he's doing everyday to improve. Do you realize the adjustment to judging flyballs with a 3rd deck. It messes with your depth perception and you think everything is hit 700 feet. You wanna go back on everything. He's out working hard with Wayne everydaye on playing OF at this level

I'll be honest. I hadn't heard the third row thing.

I hadn't either. Maybe only Chris heard it for 25 years

First time I heard it was with Hammonds. That was '93... so not quite 25 years.
