One of the reasons that, despite what I think are fair and rational views on the subject, I would be a terrible Hall of Fame voter is that I am one of those people willing to throw a random vote at someone undeserving whom I like; for example, Melvin Mora. And even on a ballot as crowded as next year's will continue to be, there's at least a 50-50 chance I would do it anyway.

Well, if you did it, at least you'd just admit it without a lot of BS...

NBC Sports / HBT: Raines hopeful he’ll make Hall of Fame on 10th and last try

This would be my ballot:
Tim Raines
Ivan Rodriguez
Vladimir Guerrero
Trevor Hoffman
Jeff Bagwell
Barry Bonds
Mike Mussina
Roger Clemens
Manny Ramirez
Edgar Martinez
10 player limit keeps me from voting for Curt Schilling and Larry Walker, but that's the curse of having a ton of HOF caliber guys and a 10 player limit.
Steroids or not, Bonds, Clemens, and Ramirez were three of the best players that I've ever seen. Bonds is the best player I've ever seen and he was a Hall of Famer before he allegedly started using steroids. Clemens is the career leader in fWAR for pitchers and was as dominant as anyone in his prime. Manny was such an incredible hitter. His batting eye is the only one that I've seen that rivals Bonds' batting eye. Put an asterick next to their plaques if you want, I don't care, they deserve to be in Cooperstown.

Arthur Rhodes is on the ballot. Is he even in the Orioles HOF?
No, but I'm pretty sure he was at the first ceremony in 1936, so that gives him a leg up.

This will be interesting.
Manny is a confirmed Roids guy and the other two, IMO, more than likely.
I think Pudge gets in, because, he was reportedly well liked by the writers. I think Manny and Vlad will be close.

Read through the list. Baseball has to address the steroid factor on the HOF vote.
The debate over takes the ballot every year know.
Also, some of the names on there bring back memories. Arthur Lee was maybe the meanest looking Oriole ever.
I wonder if Matt Stairs is working on his acceptance speech

2017 BBHOF Tracker
So as the ballots are submitted the results are made public? So someone who hasn't submitted can see who needs help and fill out their ballot accordingly? Am I missing something here?

No. Certain reporters choose to make their ballots public at various times after submission. Some write columns, some go on Twitter, some do it on the radio or TV. This just compiles all of those known ballots into one place.
Think of it like an exit poll. And like an exit poll, it's not to be seen as completely accurate--by the nature of those who tend to publicize their ballots, it tends to run high for candidates popular among "new(er) school" reporters. Tim Raines would have been in years ago based on just this tracker
