Still trying to make up for trading Tatis Jr for James Shields though.

The WS are doing so many things correctly.
Still trying to make up for trading Tatis Jr for James Shields though.
LOL, I had no idea he was involved in that Shields trade. Terrible decision
Good news! I saw a dog today.

Yes they are. That trade was bad, and I really think it sent a message to the league, not to trade highly touted good young prospects, for mid type veterans like Shields.

Just like the Reds, can't say I expected them to get off to a slow start after making real offseason moves

Wonder how the Nats feel about the trade, can't complain too much about winning a WS but still feel like they could've gotten someone like Eaton without giving up that talent

New manager Tony La Russa, doesn't seem like he'd be a good fit with the culture of that White Sox team at all https://twitter.com/...874797559750660

I'd be interested in the analysis that makes him available in trade. Signed thru 2022 with team options for '23 and '24.

OMG hes oldschool. Sometimes that's what teams need. LaRussa can be an ass but Im actually kinda rooting for him to succeed.
He was at the forefront of the analytics movement (at-least after Earl).
His tenure in the Arizona front office wasn't great, but okay... I don't believe he has forgotten how to manage.
I do think the age is something though... maybe a younger guy to connect with?
Of course there is also something to the idea of the guy who has seen it all, done it all. Certainly has earned respect.

Stoner's post has me wondering something. How much do today's players (specifically the young guys) relate to the legacy of guys like LaRussa? Do they care that he's a HOF manager? Does that impress them, in terms of working with him through ST and 162 games. If they disagree with his decisions, will their reaction be to say, "He's in Cooperstown, I trust that" or is it, "I know he's in Cooperstown, but that guys doesn't seem to get today's game".
This thought has entered my mind, from time to time. As an O's fan, I think about Cal. The guy changed how the sport viewed what a SS looks like. Does that matter to someone like Tatis, Jr? By the time he was born, the SS revolution was already established and was the norm. In a scenario where Cal is coaching Lindor, does it matter what Cal did in his day?
Good news! I saw a dog today.
