Baltimore. Adversity. Failure.

Yup.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Breaking: Cubs RHP Yu Darvish has a "stress reaction" in his elbow. He will be shut down for six weeks and not expected back this season, according to @ESPNChiCubs.

I wonder if they'll use the Bortz formula.

Javier Baez becomes the first player in Cubs history with 30 HR's, 20 SB's, 5 triples, and 100 RBI in a season.

I mean 30 HRs, 100 RBI and 20 SBs isnt super uncommon so the 5 triples is the only thing that makes him unique. Certainly doesnt make him an MVP. So many guys on contending teams that are right in the MVP mix . Sept should decide who gets the honor.

I don't think anyone else in the NL has those kind of numbers this season. Right now I'd give Baez the MVP with Freeman second, and Carpenter third.

Pitvcers have the best NL War. Not that the highest WAR should equal MVP. Cain, Nola, Goldy, Carpenter, Yelich are all in the mix along with Baez. We'll see how Sept plays out.

The most interesting season award is going to be AL Cy Young.

Sale had it locked up but he got hurt and who knows how much the Sox will pitch him in September since their fate is sealed.

Can a guy win it if he misses essentially two months?

How is the NL MVP not the most interesting. In addition to tbe guy I mentioned there is Freeman.

Sale still has a decent lead on Kluber IMO. Bauer had a chance but he got hurt too. Treinen is a hard sell for me

AL Cy is most interesting because there really isn't anyone that stands out besides Sale who, like I said, is probably going to end up spending a third of the season not pitching.  Is there a precedent for someone winning the award that has missed that much time.

As for NL MVP I'd probably vote for Baez but Yelich would be an excellent choice.
