That is good news on Hays. Any word how Mountcasetle is progressing defensively at 3B?
I heard someone refer to him as the modern day Wilson Bettemit.
Good bat, bad glove.

Well, that's not very encouraging.

Let's hope more Jeff Kent (not that I'm expecting Mountcastle to have borderline HOF offensive production.... just saying a productive bat, that makes you comfortable enough with the glove).
It's been said he has the tools to be around average in the infield. If he is right around average defensively, and he hits.... that can work.
He just can't be a liability.

Excellent news. Even some encouraging words about his defense.

I'm okay with him at third if we find a wizard at SS.Let's hope more Jeff Kent (not that I'm expecting Mountcastle to have borderline HOF offensive production.... just saying a productive bat, that makes you comfortable enough with the glove).

"Third base is where I'm at right now, I feel really confident over there," Mountcastle said. "Without even playing a full year over there, I feel like I'm ready to produce at third base. I work on it every day and I feel really confident over there right now."
Certainly sounds good. I don't think hitting is going to be a problem.
