How can you cheat on a hug?

Raul Mondesi, Jr.
Good god I'm old.
His Dad was rookie of the year in 1994, doesn't seem that long ago to me.
Damn.

Weather report is not looking good for the Derby. 80% chance of rain around 9pm. The only other time it was cancelled due to weather was 1988.... in Cincinnati.
Perfect...Have it for about an hour, that's pretty much when everyone checks out anyway.
Any idea how the weather looks for tomorrow

And if Chris Berman is calling it, it will still feel like four hours anyway.

Not sure. I saw the weather report on CBS Sports.
I was looking forward to seeing the new format that should speed it up.

Maybe, though 5 minutes is a long time. We'll see. Just hope Manny puts on a decent show.
If he doesn't win it, I'd like Frazier to.

Oh, and Machado and Donaldson tonight and tomorrow, though i'm fairly certain they hugged it out last year in Oakland.

How many HRs can a guy hit realistically in 5 minutes? I guess the days of breaking Josh Hamilton's records are over.

With it being timed, they'll get more pitches than normal, but they'll be exhausted.
Or I'm dead wrong and it'll be awesome.

I want to say that within the last minute, the clock stops on every home run. Then starts again when a non home run ball hits the ground. So a guy can break the record. It just means he has to have them all be in a row in the last minute so the clock doesnt tick.

Interesting. I am in a "bracket pool" for this (my friends and I are degenerates) and, since a lot of people will probably have a "winning" bracket, you lose points for however many HR you are off by for each round (so if I have Manny advancing I get 25 points but if I project his total HR in that round wrong by 3 I only get 22 points).
I just have zero clue as to how many HRs these guys can conceivably hit in a timed round. It was easy in the past with no time limit, but I expect them to swing at every pitch tonight (why not?), and likely get tired out by the end.

Again, good.

Would it kill them to find some kids who can actually catch to shag flies?
Overheard in the Great American Ball Park press box. “Watching these kids chase balls in the derby is like watching the Phillies outfield."

Is Goldschmidt the best player no one talks about?
No question. His numbers are sick, and there are many casual fans who have no idea who he is.
I just asked 10 people at my office (sports knowledge is helpful, though not required) 5 guys had never heard of him.
