I'm a bit surprised that Progressive is ranked so low, the first real shocker of the rankings.

I haven't been to as many as Pedro but mine would be:

1)AT&T

2)PNC

3)Camden Yards

4)Coors Field

5)Safeco

6)Fenway (haven't been since the renovations)

7)Progressive

8)Yankee Stadium

9)Rogers Centre

10)Nats Park

11)US Cell

I've also been to these "deceased" ones: "Old" Yankee Stadium, Veterans, RFK, Olympic, Tiger Stadium, Riverfront, Three Rivers, Qualcomm, Candlestick, and Memorial.

I've been to Wrigleyville but unfortunately the Cubs weren't playing either time I was in Chicago -- one of those times was in October for my cousin's wedding, but you knew the Cubs wouldn't be playing.

Update.  Moved all weekend -- and had to deal with Directv and Comcast.  Fully wired now and should have a new post up tonight.

Thanks!

I bet night-game weather would be a lot better for opening the roof... while the city itself is a heatsink, it's still Arizona, so I'm guessing it cools off 20-30 degrees at night...

My most vivid memory was walking to the park around 430-5 and thinking "my God how can people tolerate this?"

I despise hot weather.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens with the Braves' move out to the suburbs. Pretty much every single new venue built for a major sports franchise since...the Palace of Auburn Hills*, maybe...has been in an urban center. This is a totally different direction for a team to take, and it's hard to look at the move in terms that aren't cynical (or, let's face it, outright racist, or at least classist).

*I don't count MetLife Stadium. It is located in a swamp, but the same swamp as Giants Stadium. Same for AT&T/Texas Stadiums.

What's going on with the Walter Johnson statue? What is that?

It's meant to show his throwing motion. It's as awful in person as it looks in photos.

Here's Frank Howard:

Cerrano, if your number one isn't Coors Field, then your whole life is a lie.

By the way, I mentioned this in my comment on the post, but if your second-best option for a statue to represent a team that played in your city for 72 years is Frank Howard*, maybe you should rethink the whole idea of needing more than one statue.

*And Josh Gibson #3, because while the Homestead Grays did play some exhibition games in DC every year, that's like Hartford building a statue of Larry Bird at the Civic Center.

I can understand why they thought the idea of statues-in-motion was a good idea... but when they saw the models of them, they should have killed them right then... what horrible things!

p.s.  Picking Nits:  RFK wasn't home to both the Senators and the Senators...  it was home to just the expansion Senators who moved there after playing their 1st season in Griffith Stadium before RFK (nee DC Stadium) was ready....

At Nats park now. I like it. The jumbotron is substantially bigger and better than Camden Yards (one of the biggest weaknesses). The cherry blossoms past the LF stands are a nice touch while they're in bloom. Oh and one big improvement since the park opened is the surrounding are has really built up nicely.

I agree about the location, but I really like Kauffman Stadium otherwise.

BTW, I play on a bar trivia team that could use some help.

First off, I know more useless information than you do... knowing useless stuff is my specialty...

Second off, I wish you'd put in actual links... as it is, I have to use the trackpad *and* a finger to highlight the damn thing *and* then right-click on it *and* then select "open in a new tab".  By the time I get to your essay, I'm exhausted...

Third off, I'm really glad you're doing this.

Fourth off, the Royals' stadium is a perfectly good place to watch a ballgame.  Nothing that makes you ooh and aah... but there's absolutely nothing wrong with watching a game there.  It takes a back seat to the game, which is fine.  Plus, unless some of the annoying attributes of some of their current players have rubbed off on their fans, everybody there is nice as can be.  You can have a good time there, just shooting the breeze with whoever's nearby...

Fifth off, this is the ballpark that Willie Don wanted the O's to copy.   I think Willie Don was a magnificent mayor, but I'm certainly happy that he didn't get his way about the O's new ballpark..
