Kauffman is a quite unique stadium. As you mention, it was built in the height of the multi-purpose era, yet Eugene Kauffman decided to push for the baseball-only design. I would think the only ballpark that really is a close cousin, even in the era, is Dodger Stadium. Maybe Anaheim before they Rams-ed the thing up.

I agree about the location, but I really like Kauffman Stadium otherwise.

BTW, I play on a bar trivia team that could use some help.

Dude, hello?

I like how Boy Howdy always referred to it as "that place they call Yankee Stadium"

Re: the post-renovation old one... RF was still RF... it was lower, and the fence was in a slightly different place, but it was still RF...  they should've built the new one right were the old one was...

I enjoyed the day I spent in the bleachers at NYS. Of course, the Orioles won...

I also found a place to park reasonably close, although I don't think it's strictly kosher.

Also, just so you know, your presidential photo is Woodrow Wilson, not Warren Harding :P

Damnit. The caption on the site said Harding.

Updated.  Not my finest entry, but I really wanted to get a post out this weekend and resurrect this puppy.  It WILL get done!

Sounds like the original name for Minute Maid Park was more appropriate in some ways.

I agree the train is tacky... nothing against trains, they just don't fit there... and the way they use it is bush-league...

But the hill and the flagpole?  The only thing wrong with them is how blatant they are at providing manufactured specialness... but if they lose the train it might not be so obvious.   Why do you want to get rid of them.

More importantly, why do they want to get rid of them?
