I'm really puzzled by the way that ballpark faces. I didn't know it did that until you mentioned it.
I looked here: https://www.bing.com... IL&FORM=SNAPST and zoomed in appropriately and see that it faces SE. That is not only is the cause of the city view problem you noted, I think it is also unusual. I thought pretty much all of them faced some permutation of northward with a preference to the NE when possible.
Judging from that view, it seems like there was room to turn it around to point the right way. I wonder why they didn't orient it the right way...

I mentioned this in the comment I made on the post, but the site is pretty narrow--it abuts a school, church and apartments, and the one ramp is built across the street from the park itself. If they had built differently (like the Armour Field plan I linked to), they could have had Chicago in the background.
Of course, Wrigley faces away from downtown, too, but people don't care because the park is so great on its own (and it has at least a bit of North Shore high-rise skyline to see, with some slivers of the lake).

The Armour Field stuff is great!

Plus, when I zoom in on the model shown in both links, the shape of the field is truly dramatic. I wonder if the 283' foul lines would have led to special ground rules about where a ball in the seats was/wasn't a homer. Plus, the power alleys are about a mile deep. It would be famous for its dimensions alone... and would demand a track team for the CWS OF...
Do we know who gets credit for digging in and demanding that the original OPACY design got fixed? Do we know if Jacobs deserves any of it? (I know he wanted the RF wall to be the way it is, due to Ebbets Field, but beyond that I don't know.)

This shows the size of every parks video board. A few of the teams at the bottom are getting new ones this year, though.

Interesting.
Some stadiums have pretty bad video boards. The Rangers one was particularly bad when I was there and will be written about when I do their review.

I wish they'd quit selling naming rights... I saw "Progressive Field" and didn't know which one that is... call it "the Jake" and it's obvious... this is one thing to thank PA for...

I'm referring to the stadiums by their actual name just for the sake of consistency.
But 99% of people still call it Jacob's Field or "The Jake" and I try to make sure to emphasize that.

The best corporate name is Great American Ballpark.

Absolutely.

I've been there... too bad that name is false advertising...
