I try not to make decisions about a team after a few games, but the Wizards have the look of a bad team. Defensively atrocious.

Theyve been there a long time. Brooks substitutions and playing time have been a bit of a head scratcher so far though.

They have parts. But the supporting pieces they have are the wrong kind of supporting pieces. They have been lacking defense and rebounding for Beal's entire career.

 

I thought both Dani and Rui were supposed to be decent, defensive players...but I'm not really seeing it. Bryant was our best offensive big man, and that will sting a bit, but sometimes addition by subtraction. If they can find a big guy (and no Robin Lopez is NOT that guy) that can just collect boards and blocks, I don't care if he scores a point all season.

Yeah I don't know how Andre Drummond became the guy you want starting at C in the league...but here we are. Gobert is right there too, but Drummond is giving you almost 20 a game in addition to 15 reb, 2 steals and a block and a half per game. That's pretty great in today's game.

 

Heck, even that kid in BKN is doing what you need with 11 points and 11 boards a game with a block and a half for good measure.

Robin Lopez actually is a decent version of what you want, just past his prime. But yes, someone like Jarrett Allen would be better.
