ESPN: Pirates, Kyle Farnsworth reach deal

Really a no-lose deal, could end up helping them down the stretch.

Congrats to the Pirates. First winning season since 1992. Way too long, but glad they're back.
What I'm not looking forward to, is all the bandwagon Steelers fans flaunting their jolly rodgers all of the sudden, even if it does mean they'll be ditching their Red Sox socks.

Many of the Pittsburgh sports fans I know align themselves with the Yankees -- I know a bunch of Yankee, Steeler, and Penguins fans.

Something tells me this exact post was posted on a Pirates board last year with Orioles and Ravens instead of Pirates and Steelers.Congrats to the Pirates. First winning season since 1992. Way too long, but glad they're back.

Not even close. How many Ravens fans do you know outside of the MD area? Spoiler alert, not many at all. Steelers nation is world wide. Those fans will see "Pittsburgh's" baseball team doing well, and jump right on, just like they did with the Steelers. The two situations couldn't be more apples to oranges, IMO.

So O's at Pittsburgh on May 20 and 21.
Sounds perfect. Are you looking to go?

Its funny how the Os and Pirates started to become relevant at the same time...2 franchises that suffered for 15+ years.

It's fitting, given the rivalry of the two cities... as well as the actual tradition that the O's and Pirates have as an historic AL/NL rivalry.

Golden apples to oranges...
I bet Orioles-Steelers fans--even before last season--outnumber Pirates-Orioles fans 100:1. Maybe more.

Yeah

What about all the Red Sox fans that invaded Camden for so many years? You don't think fans of other organizations thought of a lot of Orioles fans as bandwagon fans last year?

I see what you're saying now..,. but yeah, they probably do... the difference is, they're fairweather fans, not bandwagon fans. Again, it's different because I'm talking about Steelers fans across the country who will now magically become Pirates fans. Orioles fans that jumped on board last year, were living in this area and suddenly saw the light. That's the distinction I'm trying to make here.

I thought you meant Pittsburgh fans in Pittsburgh at first, my bad.
