That's what he knows of, likely it's more. But the point is until an active MLBer comes out or another one of the three major sports, it's not a big deal at this point. I mean we've had openly gay elected officials, entertainers, prominent journalists, but no North American major male team athlete yet.Just based on the odds, I would guarantee that it's more than that--especially including the minor leagues. I do agree with you to a certain point, but I feel that every time someone does come out we come closer to the day that it truly, honestly will not matter.

I forget who tweeted this earlier, but it was mentioned that Cole will be the only one of the last seven MLB overall #1's on an active 25-man roster when he debuts tonight with Harper/Stras/Price on the DL, Appel unsigned, Correra in the minors (theres one more in the minors who I'm omiting).

Alex Rios was pulled from the game tonight and was hugging teammates. Preliminary reports (i.e. Twitter) suggested a trade to Pittsburgh.

ESPN: Jason Grilli eyes late-season return
It's amazing how much your vision and approach changes when you're in contention. I have no doubts he'd have been shut down and operated on if they weren't contending. This reminds me of the Hammel situation with the O's last year.

On a bit of a different note last year, that's why you saw so much criticism with the Nats, the fact they weren't willing to deviate from their original plan with Stras. Nobody would blink an eye if they were a 500 team with not much of a chance at the playoffs and shut him down when they did.
