Anyone go to the Annapolis Craft Beer and Music Festival today?

If I was the only one from here than went, that would be pretty sad :P

No but I did have a few Coronas.

Any of you guys had that New Belgium's Tour De Fall yet?  I'm trying to hold out for a sale, but that's next on my list.  Looking forward to fall beer season, it's a great time to drink.

Ok, this question may sound like I am an alcoholic, but here goes....

How can you guys get "drunk" on these type of beers?  Most of them are just way too heavy and potent to be consumed in a large enough quantity to get sufficiently bombed.

Do you beer snobs have a go-to "get drunk" beer?  For instance, if you're tailgating at a Ravens' game and you have 90 minutes to get shit-faced, what do you do?  I can't imagine pounding 7-8 microbrews is all that fun.

I very rarely have getting drunk as a goal. I will get drunk at that festival tomorrow, though.

Anyway, considering the alcohol % is generally higher on the beers I drink and sometimes substantially so, getting drunk while not drinking a ton is realistic.

For beers that have a 7% ABV I feel buzzed after drinking about 3. Drink 'em fast and it happens faster and more intense.

I usually just do some shots while drinking the Boh or some kind of lite beer.

I do agree though, they aren't beers to be chugged. Ironically, higher ABV beers are better drunk slowly.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

If I were to try to get hammered quickly, I'd just do shots. Drinking a ton of a 4.2% beer doesn't seem like a great plan to get drunk to me.

Gameplan depends on the situation, but I often like to have 3-4 nice beers or cocktails (or on rare occasions wine) and then switch to the cheap stuff to keep the party going.

I'm quickly getting over it. Kicking back a 12 pack before a Ravens game, being bloated and having to piss every 3 seconds is annoying as hell. Liquor is the way to go if you want to tie one on. Vodka is my choice.

Isn't this counter-intuitive?  Hey, how do you get drunk drinking much stronger things faster?  I drink weaker shit because it gets me drunk faster?

A fresh IPA is the easiest thing in the world to drink, for me.

There are some strong fruity notes on Valar Morghulis.  I think it's especially a plum note, but I'm not the best at that.  For an 8% ABV brew, it goes down incredibly light.  It's really good.

By the standards of the story above, there are no American macro breweries. They are all owned by some multinational conglomerate. Fact is that the beer still tastes the same (or relatively close) and is made in the US. That will not likely change. Much like the whole Goose Island take over by AB In Bev. Not much changed but better distribution and a much richer former boss and current consultant. To the above conversation about pregaming, I personally can't drink a pile of American macros and function the next day. A six pack of 8% ipa or imperial stout however goes down as fast as any other beer. The addition of some rye whiskey is my personal favorite accelerator.

Stone East will be located in Richmond, VA. I'll have to make a trip down there once the restaurant is open.

The Orioles are selling past-its-freshness-date World Cup beer at playoff games.
