Do we think the US has a shot at leading the Olympics in golds? Having 7 already seems like a good sign to me given that we were predicted to be right around there at the end, but I also haven't done enough research to see how many more we have a real shot at.

Can someone explain why she still gets to compete after it was revealed she tested positive for an obvious PED while Sha'Carri Richardson was banned from Tokyo because she used marijuana (which I doubt any athlete would say enhances their performance)? Am I missing something or is this just a blatant double-standard?

And apparently still haven't figured out that Russia are the doper of all dopers. I bet the IOC really thought they were teaching Russia a lesson by making them compete under a different name.

That she's a minor and the untimeliness of the test results seem to be the big differences.
The "there won't be a ceremony if she wins a medal" decision is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Pick a lane. She's either in or she's out. If she's in, fine, but you have a ceremony for the winners.

I'm not sure what her age has to do with it. Cheating is cheating. And the whole delay in the test results is hard to accept as legitimate when you consider the source.

Her age means that she has different rules and sanctions for tests so she can't be suspended provisionally (i.e. in response to the first failed test) so she is allowed to compete while the results of that first failed test are still under appeal. So think her age is the entire reason why they are letting her compete. Maybe there shouldn't be different rules for minors than adults, but there are.
Doesn't seem like there is any explanation for the delay in reporting the test result from December. I'm sure there are some plausible explanations for something nefarious going on, but also could be innocuous. I think if the test were received in a timely fashion, then the appeal likely already would've been completed and she'd either be fully in or fully suspended. As it is, she's in and she's allowed to compete. If the appeal does not result in the failed test being overturned, then I imagine they'll strip her of all the medals she's won in Beijing.

She also fell during the long routine and finished fourth, so all’s well that ends well.
