MASN: Brooks Robinson on Manny Machado: "He's as good as anybody playing over there"
http://www.masnsport...over-there.html
MASN: Ripken on Machado: "He's carving out how to play 3B and playing it unbelievably well"
Brooks should know. No one did it better. I loved seeing the smile on his face when Manny made a play last week. Getting the Brooks seal of approval is about the highest honor a 3rd baseman can get.
Manny is a 3rd baseman now. I am not sure he is ever moving.

I think plenty assume that to be the case. The question is where he provides more value.
Yeah but I saw it in the minors while he was still at short. You could see it in his approach. I think an elite defensive 3b is better than a good defensive ss these days because the positional scarcity is pretty similar for each position asuming he hits the same at each.

Like Seth and I were talking about earlier, there's something about baseball that translates across the generations better than other sports IMO. It's just really cool to hear Brooks/Cal talk about Manny.
I've said this before, he he stayed at 3rd, it might be just as good as SS -- it's still a critical position. I'm not opposed to moving him to SS but he provides plenty of value at third as we've already seen.

Manny also said he's a better 3rd baseman than a SS on MLBN.
Since he does want to move back to SS, I would've deflected that question. He just gave the O's one less reason to move him.

Agree. But some of it should come down to who they can get after Hardy's contact I'd up (or if they deal him), and that would include re-signing JJ as an option if they don't deal him.

I think it is a respect that Is translated in how Manny conducts himself both in the field and in his demeanor. Brooks always enjoyed the game and I am sure he sees that in Manny and I think it is neat how Manny refers to him as Mr. Robinson. Buck does the same thing.
I think the Oriole statue series certainly had some effect on the current Orioles. Guys like Adam, and O'Day seemed to be at every one. That was cool to see and it has carried over this year.

I'm not sure how much it comes from the top, but Buck clearly loved it as well. It was great to see. Agree with everything you said, btw -- good stuff!

Thanks, the culture of the Orioles has certainly changed. The teams that often embarassed the Oriole way are gone. Buck has done a terrific job bringing the pride in being an Oriole back.

Yeah it's kind of nice though because we have the flexibility to find a ss or a 3b.

Got a lot of compliments from both O's and Padres fans on the Machado shersey I wore to the game yesterday. Lots of other Machado gear in the stands. Dunno how it looked on tv but the O's were very well represented at the game and we were loud, too.
Yeah, we commented on it a bit in the game thread yesterday, it was awesome. Great representation. Good job man.

Machado badly hurt rounding first, gripping his knee. Horrible sight, stretcher/cart being used to get him off the field.

Click at your own risk as this looks bad, first glance it looks like his ACL. Ugh, not good.
