How exactly would medical marijuana use work for players on teams based in states that don't have medical marijuana laws on the books?

Do these players realize how stupid it is to come out and basically admit to using marijuana when the league is no where close to allowing it?

Saying you think pot should be legal isn't admitting to it. And it's got to start somewhere, I didn't think marijuana would be decriminalized this fast to say the least about 7 years ago.

The one thing I will say in opposition is just because "everyone does it," doesn't mean they should legalize it. You knowingly violate the rules (and are caught), you pay a price.

Not sure, they wouldn't be held in violation of the NFL rules but they could be by the local governing bodies?

https://www.profootb...defensive-ends/

Pro Football Focus compiled lists of their best single games according to their ratings. (2007-present) Each position got their own list.  In this particular one, 3-4 DEs, J.J. Watt's name came up 11 times in the 14 best games, including the top three games. Darnell Dockett was listed in the other three of the top 14, with Justin Smith cracking the list as the 15th best single game.

So yeah, J.J. Watt. He's pretty good.

Pretty amazing stuff there Mike.

Looking back on it, it's amazing he lasted till the 11th pick.

Although, that was a really deep first round.

Wow. No kidding. Each if those guys is a star already, and you can't really fault the Titans or Jags for going QB.

Did you keep looking down in the draft? Second round had Dalton, Kaep, Rudolph, Torrie, Cobb, Vareen, Ayers, reed, Houston, Murray, Mallett, Cameron, Shorts, Thomas, Sherman(5th round!). A lot of talent.

That isn't a surprise to me, I thought Watt should've been the DPOY again.  He had less sacks, but he still gets massive amount of pressure on the QB and is incredibly consistent.  On of that, he can stop the run.  If he does this for a few more years, he's a first ballot HoF player without question.  I know it's weird talking about guys his age in that way, but he's that good IMO.

ESPN: Goodell made $44.2 million in '12

http://espn.go.com/n...42-million-2012

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell made $44.2 million in 2012, according to tax returns the league has submitted.

Goodell earned $35.1 million in salary, bonus and pension compensation. Based on IRS reporting guidelines, his total 2012 compensation includes a $5 million incentive payment and a $4.1 million pension payment from the 2011 lockout year that was paid in 2012.

Yeah... I've been meaning to research this but haven't had the time of late. Why are they tax exempt? And why are so many stadiums publicly funded on top of said tax exemption?

They must have it set up with different business entities.  The stadium is under its own LLC. That the owners pay rent to but actually own.  The team is set up under an LLC. Most likely the staff in the stadiums are on the stadium LLC so that they can show negative profit.  The NFL is most likely labeled as some type of club that all the owners fall under.  The Owners of course are not tax exempt separate and either are the ticket sales, concession sales, and apparel sales for the teams but a % goes to the NFL to be distributed so a portion could be not under sales tax.  Sorry if this is confusing.

<p>I am pretty sure Shack is thinking of PBR.

So are the teams also tax exempt, or just the NFL itself? (IE: TV revenue and any NFL centric revenue, like NFL.com, merchandise, etc.)

I would think just the NFL itself.  Labeled under some club in a specific state.

“Claims that the NFL is using a tax exemption to avoid paying the tax due on these revenues are simply misinformed,” Spector said.  “The confusion arises from the fact that there is one small part of the NFL unrelated to all this business activity, that is tax-exempt:  The N.F.L. league office.”
