No but they still field the SAME team they are now. One big contract doesn't change the ability to operate the exact same way they are now. 

I think we may be talking about different things. My comment was that teams like Boston, can sign a guy for $30M/yr, lose him the next day, and just go get another $30M/yr pitcher, and they wouldn't think twice about it.

I hear ya. The problem is, his tactics often work. So he attracts top shelf talent. It's all but a certainty that it will end with his players going to market. But you get those first 6 years.

Yeah I'm usually very pro player, but this one is obnoxious. Only partial excuse is that I think this is moreso Devers telling Breslow to go eff himself because Breslow didn't come talk to him before signing Bregman than it is Devers being a bad teammate. Still, once you've buried the hatchet regarding the 3B to DH switch, then going back to 1B to fill in for an injured player is not a big ask. Just do it.

He's a terrible defensive 3B. He cried when he was asked to move to DH because the team went out and signed a better 3B. Now he's crying because they're asking him to go back out in the field.

Actually it's a brilliant move. You can argue they should've received more, but that's not the point. His contract is gone. POOF.

Everyone will have the hot take right now about how bad this trade is for Boston. First and foremost he was disgruntled and not being a team first player. Second, hes a DH making 28+ mil for the next 8 years. The bat better remain exceptional. Third, Harrison is a former top 20 prospect with a lot of team control. He hasnt been terrible in the show so far. Enough time to figure some things out. Tibbs was a top 15 overall pick last year and is off to a solid start in his pro career. Ballo is really young so who knows. Hicks is the throw in piece and offsets a tiny bit of the salary but he could return to the pen and be a steady back end arm. My bet is we look back and 3-5 years and dont think this is some big L for Boston
