Oh yea, I agree that they have problems, the pitching looks terrible, Crawford and Ellsbury are hurt, and they're lost in the bullpen obviously. I don't expect them to make the playoffs, but I don't think anyone thinks they're this bad. They'll probably finish third in the East.
They're 11-30 in their last 41 games.
That's a pretty telling segment of games.
I think they win 85 games pretty easily, but I think going higher than that is getting into some pretty troubling waters.
Either way, I love it and I wish the Caps would have eliminated the Bruins last night too.
F Boston.

I'm sure there will some who agree with Beckett's sentiments. Even if you do though, it has be acknowledged as a PR disaster. He made his lack of performance on the mound, look that much worse with his comments. It just creates a further distraction.
If Beckett and Buchholz don't get going quickly, the Red Sox just might really fall off. If those two get going around Lester, and they get Crawford, and Ellsbury back producing... they could still be a factor.

Like any other business you have to satisfy your customers and/or clients, in this case, it's the fans. So while he might not "care" how others want him to spend his off-days, the fans can't be thrilled about this.NBC Sports / Hardball Talk: Josh Beckett: "I spend my off days the way I want to spend them."

This is a PR disaster, but like the stuff from September it is just something for dumb fans to latch on to because they can't or don't want to understand that sometimes crap happens and teams struggle. The only good thing is that it is happening to the Red Sox, and other then some of the ones I've met over the years who seemed like good people it is always nice to see Sox fans in agony.

Of course Smoltz would say that, Tiger said that he was the best non-golf pro he had ever seen play golf.John Smoltz was on MLB Network talking about how golf is actually considered a good thing for pitchers to do on their days off.

I hate to say it but it will probably be Boston and MFY fighting it out for the division once again. They will get guys back all season long and be there until the end.
