It's pretty fluke, and to clear up any misconceptions, it was not a PED, it was a banned substance, basically one of those things in GNC products that gives you a little caffeine rush that he didn't know was in there.
It's one of those areas that MLB gets a FAIL for.

Whatever, he's a professional, he's responsible for what he puts in his body. Gotta follow the rules, fair or unfair.Marcus Stroman suspended for 50 games today.

Agree with this.
Man, the Jays can't do anything right this year. Yikes!

Sure, but the league banned it on the basis of giving an unfair advantage while it doesn't what so ever. The real reason is because they got sued when Bechler died with it in his system, so it was a demand the lawyers made to prevent any more lawsuits.
To lump that in with PEDs is just stupid.

I'd love to know what Tony LaCava is thinking right now.Agree with this.

Duquette hit the lottery?... I'm sure knowing what he knows now, atleast for this year, he's upset he didn't take it. Who knows maybe the Jays will be back -- everyone keeps saying it's a matter of time -- but ill believe it when it happens not all the preseason speculation stuff.I'd love to know what Tony LaCava is thinking right now.

Same thing with drugs that have zero performance-helping properties.

I probably would've given five games atleast, but it's good that the Blue Jays took action and the money being lost during the suspension will be donated GLAAD.

I think many just continue "locker room language" onto the playing field without any real malicious intent. Doesn't make it right. Remember the Kobe Bryant incident? Why, oh why, oh why are some people such hateful morons?

Definitely should have been more steep... and if I were the Jays FO, in that market, I would have suspended him before MLB did.ESPN: Yunel Escobar suspended 3 games

I believe they did suspend him as stated in the article, sure they consulted with MLB but that always happens in theses kind of situations. We agree that the penalty should've been harsher.Definitely should have been more steep... and if I were the Jays FO, in that market, I would have suspended him before MLB did.

Likewise I think they significantly underachieved and I expect them to be better!I posed this question in regards to the Red Sox in their thread, but what are everyone's thoughts/predictions on the Blue Jays for 2013?

They'll be better than the 2013 Red Sox.
