He's a natural infielder and originally a SS so imagine he can handle it. But he's not much better than Ramon Urias unless his bat returns to it's form from a couple seasons ago. League average since start of 2023.

Of course Cole and Cortes have serious elbow concerns and avoid surgery as we lose Bradish, Wells, and Means.

I hate the Yankees.

MFY get Devin Williams.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

For Nestor and a minor leaguer not in their top 30.

Williams is awesome, that sucks.

I can't believe that's the deal the Brewers took for Williams.  Cortes is a solid SP, but he's got one year left just the same as Williams and gonna make similar money.

I mean the dude does have a serious history of back issues doesn't he? Pretty sure he had a stress fracture last year. Feels like a ticking time bomb.

I understand them dealing him away.  Probably not what I'd do, but they've made a pattern of trading pitchers rather than letting them walk (Hader, Burnes, now Williams) and the logic makes sense.

I'm mainly surprised that what they took back was another expiring pitcher.  Don't think Cortes for Williams is unfair value.  I think a mid-rotation SP is at least as valuable as a stud closer in a vacuum.  Just seems like

Nestor for Williams is probably fair enough, but it's just annoying because they get Williams and Nestor isn't someone they really need anymore, he'd probably have been their 4 at best. Cole, Fried, and Rodon are ahead of him, and they still have Gil, Stroman, Schmidt.

Yeah I think Williams is worth way more to the Yankees than Cortes is.

I surprised the Brewers think Cortes is worth as much to them as Williams. Or more than a different SP with more control. Like if we offered Kremer do they take that instead? Not saying that's a smart move for us, but someone out there with a big need at closer had to have considered a comparable SP with more control, right?

I was just thinking I wonder if they'd have taken Kremer instead, Cortes is better but 3 years of control is valuable. There's injury risk there, but imagine having Williams and Felix. We'd have to sign some FAs obviously.
