Correa not going to NY
I'm not sure that Kiner-Falefa really blocks Correa. Maybe just a good backup option if the Yankees don't end up with Correa or Story, and some leverage in negotiations.

I agree.
The Yankees will ultimately get who they want.

Looks like the Yankees, Mets, and all visiting MLB teams will be at full strength this season in NY. Some dude podcasting out of his mom's basement said that JFK JR. is ecstatic since he his such a big Yankee fan!

Funny. Isnt the info on the Yankees cheating supposed to be released soon.
I expect that MLB does the same thing they did with the Red Sox cheating scandal. Sweep as much as possible under the rug.

The Yankees held a news conference to announce that they have not come to terms on a long-term extension with Aaron Judge. Since Judge has said he doesn't want to negotiate during the season, it appears as if he'll be heading down the free-agent runway next offseason.
The whole thing sounds rather odd. Who holds a press conference to publicize something they didn't do? Maybe the Yankees are just trying to get ahead of the story and engage in spin control. ("Hey, we tried to sign him; he just wouldn't take our offer.") Still, it seems strange for a club to essentially single out a player just hours before the season opener.

I am loathe to defend Brian Cashman and his army of spin doctors in the New York media, but it was Aaron Judge who imposed that deadline. And hell yes Cashman is going to spin their version of events. Can't say I blame them (Yankee mgmt) on this front, either.
Judge essentially turned down 235 over the next 8 years. He'll be 30 in less than three weeks. How many of those 8 years (even at the Yankees' asking price) do you think he'll meet or surpass the AAV? 3 or 4 of the 8 years?
And apparently Judge wanted a lot more money over those 8 years. Like, $100 million more. How many of those 8 years would Judge meet or exceed the AAV if he got his way? 1? Maybe 2?
All this talk about Judge being one of the most marketable players in the game is nonsense. He's a clean shaven face playing in New York City. At any rate, aren't all the marketable players all under 25 years of age, anyway?

According to a source for USA Today, Judge is looking for nine years and $324 million, which puts him close to Mike Trout territory. Judge is good, but he's no Mike Trout. He's also injury-prone and that only tends to get worse as a player ages.

He's also 6'7" and plays RF. His next stop is 1B/DH. If you're a fan of other AL teams, you want the Yankees to lock him up long term.
