Went to Russian River last week and Laguntias right now. Laguntias has much better food.

What beers have you had?

RR I stuck with Pliny but one of the guys got a sampler and I tasted a lot. Laguntias I got the Night IPA with was a dark hoppy awesome beer. Mostly Sucks though.

Good deal. What other breweries are on the itinerary? Any chance of going to the The Bruery in OC?

I dunno, I won't have wheels at any point when I'm out here.  I'm at the mercy of the one guy who has a car.

Stone is definitely on the agenda when I go to San Diego in next weekend.  I'll be there for a week so I'm going to a Pads game and I want to hit up Ballast Point.  Maybe West Coast too.

Nice. I've been to Stone and Ballast Point. Lost Abbey/Pizza Port too. I've heard great things about Alpine too so maybe next time I'm out there I'll check it out.

Picked up a Stone Brewing sampler.  I started with the Imperial Russian Stout, but I'll be spreading the other three out to try not to interfere with the tasting.  The IRS is definitely one of the darker beers I've ever had.  It's quite good though, it's got a good dark fruit taste going for it, it doesn't have the burnt coffee taste some stouts get, and you can definitely feel the 11% ABV kick.  Quite a promising start, I hope the others are at least as good.

Is that one the 4-pack where each bottle is like 20-some ounces?  If so, it's a good one.

Lemme get two claps and a Ric Flair

Yeah that's the one. The other three are the IPA, the Arrogant Bastard, and Sanctimoniously Self-Righteous or something like that.

Went with the Sublimely Self-Righteous tonight.  Very odd brew, the oddest I've had since 80-Acre.  It's really dark, but it has an extreme hoppy kick to it reminiscent of an IPA.  It's muted a bit, they might've combined it with something darker and malty to get the color, but still very floral in the taste.  Admittedly I'm not a big fan of overly hoppy beers, I prefer more malty flavors, but this one is actually pretty good.  I'm not sure what to compare it to exactly, but in my own convoluted rating system it's the highest rated beer of similar hoppiness, and by a rather wide margin.

As an aside, they have great blurbs about their stuff on the bottles.  Quite funny.

It's a black IPA, and a very good one IMO.

On to the Arrogant Bastard.  It's less hoppy than the last one, but it still has a bit of a bite to it.  It's quite a good brew.

Indeed, it's the one I fear.  They clearly know their hops.

Going to Fogo de Chao tonight. Not going to make the same mistake I made the first time I went and use the salad bar. All meat...all night.

My fears were misplaced, Stone really does know how to work with hops.  IPAs really aren't my style, but this is the easiest time I've had with one, if that makes any sense.

I think I'm addicted to Terry Ho's Yum Yum sauce. I put it on everything. Steak, ham, my hamburgers, eggs. You name it, I pour it on.

You're doing it wrong.  ;)

Well with half of the equation that is.
