Guiness for whatever reason is always more expensive that other beers. That said some low ABV beers are expensive and even served in 8 or 10 oz glasses sometimes. Cost and ABV isn't always related.

I believe you need a special setup to serve Guinness correctly on tap, something about nitrogen. But that info comes from barroom banter and might not be accurate.

They have a different tap spout, and the tap handle can be pushed and pulled. But as far as I remember in my bar days we hooked it up to the same air as the other kegs.

I went with the American knock-off.  Glad I did though, Boulevard's irish Ale is a solid offering from a solid brewery.  It's got quite a hoppy taste, but not with the extreme citrus bite I generally associate with an IPA.

Budweiser appreciates your business.

Didn't Duvel buy Boulevard?

You scared me there McNulty, I thought I did a good job avoiding the stuff posing as beer.  Didn't know they were owned by Duvel.  I know they own Ommegang, and everything I've had from them has been fantastic.

Right now, I'm pairing a Yuengling lager with a hunk of homemade raisin bread.

It's good.

Smithwick's is pretty good. Harp...all made by Guiness...

Smithwicks is amazeballs, especially on Tap.

Another good one is Boddingtons.

Kilkenny is good too.

Guiness with kegs and eggs at 8 AM on St Paddy's Day -- priceless.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Not impressed with Sam Adams' Escape Route.  I wanted something different, but it's just kinda meh.  Very muddled flavor.  I understand combo beers and like quite a few, I've brought up Boulevard's 80 Acre before, but this wasn't that appealing in any area.

Did pick up a decent take on a Trippel though to make up for it.  Not as good as Belgians usually are, but even an ok version of the best beer styles is going to be pretty good.

Not beer, but here is something cool.

http://www.jackdanie...//by-the-barrel

For the low price of just $10,000, you can buy your own barrel of Jack Daniels Single Barrel. A barrel yields 240 bottles, meaning you get your own personal, hand picked by you and their experts, bottles for $41.66 per. They'll mark your barrel and send you your bottles as needed, and then send you the barrel when its empty.

Depending on the store that's about a $3-$9 savings. Could be $2,000 in savings over the course of...however long it takes you to drink 240 bottles. It pays to buy in bulk.

Jack costs less than $25 a bottle. Or is Maryland one of those states with silly liquor laws?

I've seen the barrel in Sams before though, it looks cool. But anyone buying Jack probably knows you're paying for marketing more than anything.

Regualr Jack is, but "Single Barrel" is the special one though, usually $45-$50.

I just get bourbon. That's essentially what Jack is, and Buffalo Trace is cheaper and a superior spirit to boot IMO. Not that I won't drink Jack, I just think they overprice it.

RR I stuck with Pliny but one of the guys got a sampler and I tasted a lot. Laguntias I got the Night IPA with was a dark hoppy awesome beer. Mostly Sucks though.
