I read the stats for all the finalists ( pro bowls, all pro team ), but they left off Ed's DPOY on all of them. That would be a bigger deal than pro bowls.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."
"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."
"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

This might be what gets me to visit Canton.
Great place. Well worth the drive up.
Especially now that the greatest play making safety in the history of the NFL will reside there.
Congrats #20. Maybe my favorite Raven of all time.

With the news that he is retiring, should Eli get in?
Yes, but would have to wait, IMO. Not first ballot. He is 7th in games started, yards, and TDs. 2 titles helps.
But was never one of the best of his era.

The last part is what is key to me.
The counting stats aren't that influential to me because of the era he played in. I give him credit for being on the field so much, but considering how much he played, it would be more noteworthy if he didn't have historic counting stats.
So more important to me is he was never an elite QB. I'd say he closer to an average starting QB than an elite one. I don't think pretty good players should make the HOF, regardless of how great their durability and longevity were.
I do think he'll make it, though.

The arguments I see against Eli are the same I see for average baseball Hall of Famers. The Hall of Fame isn’t just for Babe Ruth and Willie Mays. It’s for guys like Craig Biggio and Don Sutton too.

Craig Biggio was an elite player at his position(s). Eli Manning was not, nor was he that close.Eli Manning is a no doubt hall of famer.

I go back and forth about Eli. I think he makes it, maybe not the first year, but he gets in.
His last name helps him too.

Craig Biggio was elite for about 5 years and was average the rest of his long, long career. A lot like Eli.
Eli was never elite.

Eli had some big yardage years.
He threw a lot of TDs in several years.
But, how do you define that?
I personally don’t see him as elite. I think Ben, Brees, Manning, Brady and Rodgers were the only elite guys of this generation.

Eli was never elite.
Yeah, I disagree. That’s probably the crux of the argument.

Yep. You must have a very liberal definition of the word elite.
