Does the NFL have a character clause? That could actually come into play regarding Harrison.

@greggrosenthal: Can’t critique HOF class without saying who should be out. Pace and Harrison far, far more deserving than Bettis, Brown.

I don't think Bettis is HoF worthy.

I would have put Pace in over Bettis. Bettis probably gets in another time for me.

Pace seemed like a no doubter from what I heard from many people.

Btw..the NFL HOF process is a joke.

As much as many of us hate the MLB process, it's a million times better than the NFL.

Pace feels to me like he might have a similar issue as Tony Boselli....both played at an elite level for a number of years, but injuries prevented them from having the sort of longevity that contemporaries like JO and Walter Jones did. Still, unlike Boselli I think Pace gets in eventually, as he was able to play longer.

PFTCommenter has outdone himself

Ok, this is fantastic:

They called him "The Battering Ram" in LA partialy because of his straight-forward running style and also because of his affinity for dipping his mouthpeace in tempura.

Yahoo: Controversial? Yep. But is Terrell Owens a first-ballot hall of famer? No doubt

http://sports.yahoo....-182859854.html

Agreed. Have seen some say he isn't a first ballot..  2nd all-time in yards, 3rd in TD's....  Even factoring in the era, resume seems pretty clear, no?

Owens is one of the greatest receivers of all time.  To deny that is ridiculous.  He should be a first ballot guy, but I think he'll get in eventually.

Any locks in this class besides Brett Favre?  Orlando Pace has to get in this time.  It's ridiculous they let in someone like Bettis over him.

Farve seems to be the only lock.  Definitely a buzz existing that Owens won't be a 1st ballot.

Even Chris Carter wasn't first ballot. Arguably best hands in the game. People will point to Owens' drops as a reason not to make him a first ballot. His attitude is probably the real reason.

I would put him in first ballot. He was absolutely one of the best.

Carter played a lot of his games indoors. Think that helped with the hands perception. Not that it wasn't true though.

I'm not even a TO fan. I do think there are things to pick at... but cumulatively, I think he accomplished too much for him to be anything but an automatic selection. I think there is a good chance he does have to wait though.

True. Carter also played on some bad teams. Maybe if he had a ring...Maybe another reason T.O. could have to wait.
