I don’t think it’s fair to compare common people taking more money to athletes taking more money.
If you worked for UA for $50k a year, and Nike offers you $55K a year, it makes sense to us common folk. If UA paid you $85M and Nike offers you $90M, at that point I’m gonna work where I’m gonna be happy. Both are more than enough money to live happily ever after, and set you and kids up for life on.
People seem to have this idea that having a lot of money means you shouldn’t want more. Never understood that reasoning.

Seemed like it was headed this way.
Halladay won’t have a logo either.

I like it actually. Completely respect the decision.

Different strokes for different folks. Markakis took less to stay in ATL. I respect that.
I also don’t care that moose took the money. Some people want it more. Happiness has a price, and everyone’s price is different.

He should’ve gone in with an O’s hat because it means more to us but whatever. I honestly don’t need to see or hear anything about Mussina again personally. Loved him while he was here but when he left, and I understand why he did, I didn’t really think about him at all.
And I still don’t.

Do Yankee fans even GAF that Mussina is going into the HOF?

Yea, the one thing that Mussina could have had is much more of a legacy if he went in with an Os cap.
Here’s the thing though...Mussina knows that. He isn’t stupid. To me, it tells you two things. First of all, he genuinely enjoyed his time in NY. Secondly and probably most importantly, he hates Angelos. I think him wanting to distance himself as much as possible from that PA era could be the real reason.

It was more than just money though. It was respect. It was leaving a shitty owner and a franchise going nowhere.

No doubt. But some guys stick it out through all that.
Cal for one could have left at any point. He kept signing one year deals.
Like I said, different strokes for different folks. Kyle Williams in the NFL played 13 years in Buffalo. He could have gone other places for more money, better city, better owners, chance of winning something. He was completely content staying put though.
I really don't care what Moose did. He did what was in his best interest. Cool. Thats what everyone pretty much does. Everyone's interests are different. Money, location, teammates, family, ownership, a lot of factors.

Agree with most of this. Didn't really care that he made the HOF because any good will towards him was gone when he went to NY. And I'm not saying I blame him for doing that, he did what he thought was best for him, and he has that right. But I don't really think of him as an "Oriole great" at this point. I do think it would have made much more sense for his legacy to go in as an Oriole instead of with the blank cap - as it is now, neither BAL nor NYY fans will really care much about his induction. He's just another guy. And he's probably OK with that.
