Jack Curry ‏ @JackCurryYES
Why spring training is only spring training. Matusz walked 3 in 24 2/3 innings in spring. Has walked 4 of first 20 Yankees tonight.

I'll chalk part of it up to Matusz being 'juiced' tonight, and also give some credit to the Yankees patience.

Next time out needs to be better.

Truthfully, I didn't pay much attention to Spring Training as in previous years.

Let's say Matusz does poorly in his next 1-2 starts and Wada is ready to come back from the DL. Does he replace Matusz in the rotation and does Brian go to Norfolk?

I'm sure it's been said, but it disgusts me hearing loud cheers at OPACY when the Yankees score.

Tillman had a poor first start at Norfolk, but if he gets going, he will be an option as well.

Britton is throwing again, and still thinks a mid-May / early June return is his expected arrival date.

Wada is going to be up at some point. (I could also see him joining the bullpen, maybe with the O's cutting Gregg.)

There will be the depth at some point, where the current starters will have to continue to perform to keep their spots.

Brian didn't pitch well tonight but his ERA is only 9.00 so far this year.

Absolutely. Matusz has a very short leash at the start of this season. If he looks as inept as he did tonight, he won't be around for more than a handful of starts at most.

I'll be eagerly awaiting his next start in hopes that this was just him being overly amped, but he was dreadful tonight. Zero positives aside from the return of his velocity to the (very) low 90s, but that is worthless without anything else coming back.

O'Day walks Swisher on 4 pitches, to load the bases for Cano.
