Congrats to the Wizards on becoming the Heat's 1st Round fodder.

They are cutting everyone else in the deal.

So, it's Okafor and a first for 1 year of Gortat.

So I guess you are not supposed to try right now because the Heat are to good? By the way this deal clears 16 mill in cap space for next year.

I am pretty sure Shack is thinking of PBR.

The space was going to be cleared anyway...at least in terms of Okafor.

Great draft next year...Wiz isn't good and isn't getting out of first round...I get that you want to make playoffs...but not this way.

Leonsis really wants to make the playoffs, sure they won't beat the Bulls or Heat, but the East is pretty weak, the Wiz could get the 6th seed, and may win a round.

Not just the Heat. There are 4 teams in the East that are significantly better than the Wiz.

Win a round against who? That's not happening unless at least two of the top teams in the East are hurt a lot by injuries.

Should they be giving up a pick in a deep draft for Gortat?

Absolutely not but that is the Wizards under EG. They want to make the playoffs but my theory is that unless you are sure that you can seriously compete you do not trade the pick. That said, they are better.

I'm with you here, I get the wanting a high draft pick and the Heat/Bulls being significantly better, but at what point do you have to say we'll go for it? At what point are players John Wall who've stuck it out, fed up?

The losing to the Heat in the first rounds reminds me a bit of the O's in 2012 with becoming buyers just to lose to Texas or Anaheim (I mean LA) in a one game (yes, one game is different than a best of 7). The Heat won't likely see real competition to til the Conference Finals and even then they'll very likely win.

It must be the home court advantage why they'll lose to those teams, they aren't any better than the Wizards.

Any team that makes the MLB playoffs can win it all. That's not the case in the NBA.
So how many teams can seriously compete? (serious question)

Around 9 give or take a team depending on how you feel about them.

When the O's added Thome, that's not what people on here and elsewhere were saying. As I said, I'm just comparing the arguments I'm hearing here, I even conceded it was different.

That's higher than I thought, I thought it was going to be around 6-8, maybe even less.

Well even those who said that would admit that the O's chances were easily higher than a team like the Wizards.

Well some may say that. I basically counted every team that you could somewhat call a contender. The Wiz are far from that group.

You must be a blast at the one party you attend every year.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks. Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

You just have to make everything personal right? Just how insecure are you?

Calling me insecure...PERSONAL ATTACK!

You're just obnoxious. I find you to be that rare breed of know-it-all and clueless (at least on the subjects I've debated with you). A very lethal combo indeed. To top it off, you're a latent troll.

Meh, Stoner has tried hard to avoid these types of posts on his site so perhaps an "ignore" is in order out of respect.
