Leonsis effectively is saying the "rebuild" is over, thanks the fans for sticking with them. Talks about the preseason being "long, long." And gets into the whole "character" being more important. Buchantz talks about Leonsis weight loss.

Lemme get two claps and a Ric Flair

If the rebuild is over than no more excuses for Grunfeld. Win or he has to get the axe.
I think he just signed an extension recently so unlikely he'll be gone anytime soon. I would've replaced him after Leonsis took over.

Leonsis is needs to sack up and hold both of his underperforming GMs accountable sometime soon, IMHO.

I think that extension was made in May of 2012. So the new one would cover last year and, at least, this year.

He's made no secret on how he values continuity. And there's something to be said for that. With that though, he's never hired a GM excluding the Mystics.

I'd like to say this is the make or break year for Grunfeld, but I doubt it is. The only way I could see him getting fired would be if the team remains healthy and end up one of the 2 or 3 worst teams in the East. And health is already an issue, with Okafor and Porter having issues. Porter is a wildcard this season, but Okafor is a big part of the overall plan.
And Brad Beal has serious star potential.

@BulletsForever This year, for the first time since 1973, there will not be a player in the NBA who has played with the Washington Bullets.

Something else that desperately needs to change.

Careful, by wanting to change the name back you're blindly endorsing violence amongst inner city youth.

Okafor dealt to phoenix for gortat. Some other small pieces involved too. Interesting.
Kendall Marshall is not a small piece!!!!!!!

Nice to have a real center -- both contracts are expiring so the money isn't a huge issue.
Dislike giving up a draft pick in next year's draft but at least it's lottery protected in case the wheels come off.
The Wiz definitely got better THIS year.

Agreed I like this move. Moving Nene to power forward this puts a really good lineup on the court both big and small.

I'm a little concerned about giving up a pick for 1 year of Gortat, although if he's the 2011-2012 Gortat, I feel better. The Suns were a train wreck of an organization last year, so hopefully that helps explain him having a down year. He also played really well with Steve Nash, so hopefully he and John can capture that as well.
Overall, I'll say I cautiously like the deal, only because it definitely makes the team better right now. Not thrilled about giving up the pick, but Ernie probably would have missed on the pick anyway.

Pick is lottery protected, but in this draft, even 14/15 could get you a nice piece..
Good trade in my opinion. Going for the playoffs.

As long as they don't end up in that 13-14 spot.
