It's being reported in the Dominican Republic that Yordano Ventura and Andy Marte died in a car accident. Horrible news.

Driving in some of these foreign countries is so dangerous. They don't have the traffic laws that we do.
Of course, if he was drunk, it wouldn't have mattered anyway.

I can vouch for this. Drunk driving is *legal* here. Panama was complete chaos as well. Actually all of the Central American countries I've been to were insanity.

I was skimming a couple articles and misread something... no mention of a passenger dying... my mistake...
Ventura is believed to have been driving under the influence at the time of the crash, according to ESPN’s Cristian Moreno.
....
Ventura was close friends with Cardinals prospect Oscar Taveras, who was killed in a car crash while driving drunk in October 2014. Ventura pitched his final game while wearing inscriptions on his hat paying tribute to Taveras and Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez.

Yes, the driving laws and enforcement of those laws in some of these countries is what leads to insane drivers.
However, the USA has the most lax drinking and driving laws I've seen.
Still, we have to be among the world's best drivers, if not the best.
I'll be driving in Spain later this year. That should be fun.

Some of the methods that are used in this part of the world by criminals are unspeakable. They will put live babies in the road to get people to stop and then proceed to carjack them.

Royals having some bad luck with pitchers this year.
Per Rotoworld:
Brian Flynn suffered a broken rib and other unspecified injuries after falling through the roof of his barn in the days before reporting to camp.
Well, at least Flynn has this year's weirdest baseball injury already sewed up. The expectation is that he'll miss eight weeks, so he'll begin the year on the disabled list. Flynn, 26, posted a 2.60 ERA and 44/23 K/BB ratio over 55 1/3 innings with the Royals last season. Feb 14 - 2:24 PM
