Know people hated Morgan on Sunday Night Baseball... but him and Miller was the last time that felt like a premier event imo.
I thought Morgan was a pretty good commentator. RIP.

I thought Morgan was a pretty good commentator. RIP.
I always thought that Morgan the commentator stood for basically the opposite of everything that made Morgan the player one of the best 2B ever. He drew so many damn walks. Did so well at all of the "sabermetric" type things that were underappreciated when he played and just were becoming mainstream towards the end of his broadcasting career.

I'll take your word that Morgan may have been resistant to sabermetrics. I just thought he was an old school type of color commentator. Made comments on plays from his perspective, which I enjoyed. Further, while I am sure to be in the minority, I am not a huge Jon Miller fan. Morgan made the broadcasts more tolerable for me. He was a tremendous player. He was a big reason I loved watching the Reds on the Game if the Week during the mid seventies.

Back to back NL MVPs in 75 and 76.I knew Morgan was a great player. Didnt realize he was in the 100 WAR club. Makes him inner circle.
Easily an all time great IMO.

He was good to really good for nearly a decade at the beginning of his career. Good to really good for nearly a decade at the end of his career. And his 5-year peak in between those stretches was as good as nearly anybody's. Averaged over 9 WAR a season for 5 straight years. Amazing.

I knew the peak was really good. Didnt realize he had the longevity and consistency to get to 100 WAR.

I think Sean was probably the most versatile actor in the business. From Russian Sub Captain, Irish Beat Cop, Israeli Special Ops Commander, inmate at Alcatraz and professional Jewel Thief.

His choice to use a Scottish accent in each role was bold!
His early Bond flicks, The Rock (I was 13, cut me some slack), and Highlander (I'll always be 13) are probably my favorite roles of his.
I wonder how much of the decision to have all the actors in Hunt for Red October use their natural accents was based on having Connery in the lead role.
