Bears' Hall of Fame tailback Sayers dies at 77

The Kansas Comet.  He was incredible to watch  He had such a smooth running style, it was hard to guage just how damn fast he was.

ZI actually saw him at HOF ceremony.  He was in pretty good shape.  He made no secret that he and Hawk liked to party, when they formed the Road Warriors.  Maybe it caught up to both of them.  Either way RIP.

Is pro wrestling going to be around or anything more than underground in the near future. High CTE possibilities, tons of injuries that they take drugs to help, steroids, living on the road a big % of the time. It seems its rare any of these guys live to see 70. Way too many die in their 30s, 40, and 50s

Accidents do happen, but at least at the WWE level they have banned some things, knowing what we know now about head injuries. Wrestlers are stepping down if a doctor tells them to, where as that wasn't a thing years ago.

If you've never seen this guy run with the ball, find some video of it.  Prettiest runner-in-action I've ever seen...

p.s.  I was gonna say, "and never injured"... until I read that he had years of dementia...

Was he a diabetic?

Certain types of metformin is thought to cause dementia in many of the older citizens.

They have cleaned things up....still more work to do, but nothing like it was in the past.

The WWE Wellness program had been laughed at by some, but they have done some good with it.

IMO, Gibson had the best single year ever for a pitcher.

Check out 1968.

304 IP

1.12 ERA

.85 WHIP

just 198 hits allowed and only 62 walks.

RIP Bob....an incredible competitor on the mound.

That’s pretty wild how short the amount of steps you can take to go back through history.

I’m pretty sure you can link a current NFL player to a player they played with as a rookie, that player to a player they played with as a rookie and so on, and you can get to Jim Thorpe in only like 5 or 6 links.

Another one like that is that Vin Scully called baseball games including Connie Mack and Julio Urias. There is a 134 year age gap between the two.
