This is 100% venting, but sometimes it really feels like Jones can't do anything right.

Ugh. First pitch swinging (what else is new???) from AJ and taps out to Kuroda. Can't even move Markakis over to 3rd.

Davis grounds out but at least moves Nick to third. Now it's up to MIMS.

MIMS grounds out and the heart of the order can't bring in a lead off double. 3 groundouts.

That was a frustrating inning.

If the O's aren't careful they're gonna drop down to 4th in the East. Tampa's won the 1st 2 against the White Sox and currently are leading the 3rd game 1-0.

I hate it when people complain about first-pitch swinging.  It's usually a dumb, result-driven complaint, because almost every hitter hits very well on first pitches.  Unless it's immediately following a 4-pitch walk or a really wild stretch, or if it's a situation where getting on base is crazy important, a hitter looking for, getting, and swinging at a pitch they like is a good thing.

 

That said, when Jones is going bad, like right now, he's very easy to get out.

That's fair, he's definitely slumping right now, but Adam has a 333 BA and a 647 SLG on first pitches this season.

And he's been hitting well when he's behind in the count, too (or atleast last time i looked at the numbers). just seems like right now for AJ nothing can go right. Probably why he beat up his helmet and bat on Friday night.
