#27 media market folks. Just one ahead of Baltimore. They must have Petco Park booked everyday there’s no baseball with concerts.

The other noteworthy thing is the Padres are one of the teams carried by the Ballys RSNs. Owner doesn’t appear too concerned.

I moved to downtown SD a few weeks ago, really looking forward to seeing this team in person on a regular basis. Seidler is all-in for a championship, which is a nice change of pace from ownership as a life-long Orioles fan.
Oh wow, congrats on the move! I love San Diego!

First player ejected in the clock era due to a clock issue - and it was in the 1st inning. Love ya Manny, but you're really dumb sometimes bud.

Yeah, calling the umpire a douchebag probably isn't a recipe for success. But hey, Nelson Cruz replaced him in the lineup and hit his first HR as a Padre so it kinda worked out. Pitching was the downfall today, bad day for the bullpen after a solid first outing from Darvish.

The Padres became the first victim of the Ballys RSN bankruptcy today, as Diamond Sports Group did not make its scheduled rights payment (and the two week grace period expired today). Bally Sports San Diego will air its final game tonight.
Starting tomorrow in-market fans can stream Padres games on MLBTV, free for the remainder of the week, then as part of a paid subscription. MLB is also working on getting pay TV providers to carry games on an available channel. The announcers will remain the same (they are team employees) and the other production personnel were independent contractors who will be able to keep their jobs.

Well I guess the bright side is nobody lost their job. And an in-market paid streaming subscription service is sort of what most fans want anyway right? So maybe this is a good thing?

I almost put victim in “” because this probably isn’t a bad deal for fans who don’t need a cable bundle and only had one to watch their games. And the Padres will for sure not be the last team to make this transition. Curious how much, if any, revenue hit this might cause.

According to The Athletic the MLBTV subscription will cost the same as it would for any other single team subscription; $19.99 per month, or $74.99 up front for the full remainder of this season.

+70 in run differential (the Orioles are +69). The Padres are 2 games under .500.
