+70 in run differential (the Orioles are +69). The Padres are 2 games under .500.

P = L (A + T + C)

Ok let’s see…

Performance equals attitude plus talent plus clubhouse multiplied by leadership?

Ok let’s see…

Performance equals attitude plus talent plus chemistry multiplied by leadership?

Yes, although I've written that out many times. Not cryptic.  Not just Baseball either, works across Life.

There's a community of Baseball that thinks Talent = Performance except that continuously proves to not be so direct.

This is also the NCAA BB Tourney analogy, because there's no real way to achieve the 1vs16 type Talent disparity.

I have to admit this made me lol

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Their owner Peter Seidler passed away this morning. Not sure if he'd been ill or not, but might offer insight into why he was willing to have such a huge payroll despite market size,

The memorials for Peter Seidler should show other baseball owners that they aren't destined to be despised by their fans. All people want is a sincere effort. Try a little. Or a lot. Do it as a treat to yourself so you'll be remembered the same way

Peter was an amazing man and freaking loved the Padres. Badass two-time cancer survivor, talked about not wanting to take a bunch of money to the grave, and did as much work as anyone with the homeless population here in San Diego along with countless other community outreach efforts. Sucks he wasn't able to see a title in his lifetime, but it certainly wasn't for lack of trying on his part.

Discussed this in the Stowers thread and other places.

Yesterday MLB released their annual "starting lineups for every team" article and fortunately for the article, they signed Profar to a modest contract earlier in the day so they'd have somebody to list in LF.  They have a guy worse than McKenna in CF and Profar is nothing in LF.

Profar can't run or defend.  He doesn't strike out, but maybe he's just trying to make contact because all of his other offensive statcast sucks.

mlb.com had a Preller article (today, yesterday) talking about hard he was working to find solutions.  His team has already reported for ST and his answer on 13 FEB is Profar.

Looks like Jackson Merrill (Severna Park HS, ~1 mile from my house) is gonna make the Padres opening day roster.  He'll turn 21 a couple weeks into the season.  Was an underslot signing at the end of the 1st round in 2021 and has just exploded as a prospect.  211 PA at AA last season with an upper 700s OPS after similar numbers in A+.

For a package almost certainly worse than what the Orioles offered.

What a terrible job by the WhiteSox.  At this point, just keep him and see what happens.

Padres system is top heavy with Salas, Merrill, Snelling and Lesko....and they got none of them.

Wasn't Drew Thorpe the centerpiece of the Juan Soto trade?

He was. No idea what the Padres or White Sox are doing but glad Cease ended up in the NL.

Seems to me Getz may have shared that sentiment.

The white Sox went from "start with Holliday or it's a non-starter," to taking a prospect package far worse than what the O's offered for Burnes, all in a matter of weeks.

What a terribly run org. Jeez.
