After years of angst by their sluggers, the Padres said it was time to change the extreme nature of the downtown ballpark -- which some people derisively called Petco National Park -- to one that plays more fairly.

Back in his days with the Marlins I used to have a huge fan crush on AJ Burnett. I was ecstatic when they were supposedly closeto acquiring him and was ticked off when they backed out of the deal. I was upset when they didn't try to sign him as a free agent. I continued to root for him even when he played for the Blue Jays and Yankees. I got in quite a few arguments over the years at OH over his potential and whether he was injury prone.
While I still consider myself an AJ Burnett fan I have a new fan crush, someone I've written about a couple of times on here. Tyson Ross. I know it won't happen but I'd love to see the Orioles figure out how to get him.

CBS Sports: Improving Padres made quiet try for Headley, but free agency looms
It isn't known what the Padres offered Headley over the winter, but the sides were far enough apart that there's no discussion ongoing. They only both agree at this point that free agency after the year is the most likely scenario for Headley.

Unfortunate. Hate seeing guys have their careers derailed to injuries.
