One pitcher of note isn't a lot to give up for a long term 1B and LF. It's like they gave up one real prospect in order to get a do over and pretend that they could have bid for AGon and CC. They would have been in on both if the ownership wasn't a mess at the time and BOS gave up more just to get AGon.

This post seems to suggest that getting Crawford is somehow a positive. If every team in baseball was given a do over on those biddings knowing what we do now, no would offer Crawford much at all and AGon wouldn't be quite as attractive.

And it seems to be two pitchers of note based on what Law says.

When that "long term LF" is the single worst contract in the history of the sport, it changes the equation a bit. If Crawford was a FA this offseason he likely wouldn't even get guaranteed multiple years.

I love the acquisition of Gonzo for them, and Beckett seems like a decent gamble, but giving up a decent amount of talent while still having Crawford in the deal changes the quality of the deal.

Calling the CC contract the worst contract in the history of the sport is way premature.

If he is healthy, he should be fine. If he suffered a serious leg injury, I would be much more worried.

Crawfords contract is still a bad one in my estimation. He may return to 2010 form but the older he gets, the more less likely.

I think 15 WAR is about the best the Dodgers can hope for out of Crawford for the next 5 years.

It says "as high as $8.5B over 20 years"... yet everybody's talking there as if that means "$8.5B in the bank" (minus the $2B they spent to get the chance to spend it..). If $8.5B is the ceiling, I wonder what the floor is...

Almost made me feel sorry for Beckett. Simers should be fired for being that unprofessional.

Yeah that was pretty ignorant.

I've met Josh before, didn't seem like as bad of a guy as he's been painted by some in the media.

They passed that exit on the TJ Simers Turnpike a thousand miles ago.

The Dodgers have apparently given Brandon League 22.5M over 3 years along with a vesting option.

Crazyness!

Nobody stands a chance if the Dodgers want a player. Holy crap thats one of the stupidest contracts that wasn't over $50 million.

This is getting ridiculous.

No salary cap and they don't seem to mind spending, atleast so far. They spent over $2 billion and want immediate dividends.

They are quickly turning into the 2001-2008 Yankees.
